Project Ensemble

learning from each other

The main point of the project is the sensitization, dissemination and motivation to promote the creative industry in Morocco and other African French-speaking countries. To this end, a dialog was initiated with various institutions and schools in Morocco. In a further step the Projet Ensemble wants to create an exchange in the creative industry. The aim is to create a creative community that spans continents and can exchange ideas in a variety of ways. What started with a permanent exchange between the École Supérieure des Arts Visuels Marrakech, ESAV and the Zurich University of the Arts, ZHdK, will continue to spread and expand.  The projet ensemble is a joint project between the Fondation Susanna Biedermann in Basel, the operator of ESAV Marrakech, and ZHdK.

For centuries, a very important and constructive exchange took place between the Arab and European world. The cultures, on both sides of the Mediterranean, are built on similar, partly common grounds. In the current political situation, the relations between the Maghreb, as well as the whole Islamic or Arab world and Christian Europe are critical. Wars, economically insecure situations, poverty, migratory flows and autocratic regimes in the Arab world, but also in the whole of Africa, are endless. A constructive dialog with these countries is important to foster mutual understanding and to reduce prejudice. In particular, the exchange between students and the joint collaboration of economic, social and cultural topics across linguistic, social and religious boundaries is intended to generate experiences that are indispensable in today's globalized world.
