Salomé Bäumlin * 1980 lives and works in Bern and Morocco. After completing the class of stage design in Solothurn, she studied art at the Berne University of the Arts in Bern from 2005 to 2007. In her heterogeneous work, form and material are directly related to questions of cultural identity and craftsmanship in the globalized world. Since 2005 she has been present at various group and solo exhibitions in Switzerland, Germany and Egypt. Since 2007 she has been intensively involved with the Arab world and will receive the Cairo Scholarship of the Swiss Culture Conference and the City of Bern in 2011. In 2014 she will complete her Master of Arts, Product Textile Management, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, and was awarded with the Women's Art Prize. Her achievements in design are repeatedly supported by the Bern Design Foundation. In 2015 she founds the AIT SELMA label for culturally sustainable carpets.
